Sikkim is a north-eastern state of India with beautiful landscapes. It is bordered by Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet. It has one of the highest mountains, Kanchenjunga which is 8586 metre high. It has an area of 7,096 square km and a population of 610,577. The official language of Sikkim is Nepali and English.

The government of Sikkim is much concerned about the health of its people and has initiated The Comprehensive Annual and Total Health Check-up for Healthy Sikkim (CATCH) Program to provide basic health related services to the rural population of the state. The state government has launched several healthcare schemes for the benefit of the mother and the child. These are:
